GenerationNext99: The 99th Post!!!

Hey. Hazim here...again. If you factor in all the facts, I'm pretty new to Blogger, but this post is GenerationNext99's 99th post! So, go ahead and roll your eyes, but whatever. I've been on since January this year. 99 posts isn't that much, but wait for the 198th post! Another 99 to go then! Hazim. Out.
GenerationNext99's 1st Postwhich was embarassing much, but like I said and the wisemen say...whatever.

Music2SeeTuesday: NatashaBedingfield-Single

NatashaBedingfield Bullies Little Kids By Squashing Their Sandcastles
Hey. Hazim here...again. I'm not a major fan of NatashaBedingfield, but "TheseWords" was such a pop masterpiece, I couldn't put her down as just another morally righteous popstar. So now, after conquering the US charts with "Unwritten", she's got a another single called, ummm..."Single". Yeah, it's about being single and being independent. I dunno. I'd rather not be a 40 yr old virgin. Take tips on what NOT to do from Steve Carrell. Yeah, so enjoy the vid. It's kinda hard to see how this song will fare on the charts, but we'll see. Hazim. Out.

GwenStefani Gives Birth...Finally!

Hey. Hazim here...again. The former NoDoubt singer and uber cool fashion icon GwenStefani has finally given birth to a healthy baby boy. I'm gonna miss the pregnant Gwennie. She made being pregnant almost sexy even I almost (ALMOST) wished I was preggers so I could try on the awesome clothes she was sporting during her pregnancy. The baby weighed in ay 7.5 pounds. This is GwenStefani's first baby, but daddy Gavin Rossdale's second who had a love child with fashion designer PearlLowe. Apparently, Gwen did NOT name her baby after a fruit, but instead chose Kingston James McGregor Rossdale as her little boy's name. KIngston's a cool name actually, better than any Apple or Suri. Anyways, no pics of the baby yet, but hey. it'll come out sooner or later. Congrats to Gwen and Gavin, who make a seriously cute couple. Hazim. Out.

Fefe Dobson Set To Finally Release Sunday Love

"You. Gimme Back My Other Eye."
Hey. Hazim here...again. Anyways, Avril-lite rock chick got some tips from Courtney Love and Joan Jett while recording her second album Sunday Love, but maybe what she really needed was tips on promotions. It's never a wise marketing move to release your lead single in June 2005 and delay the release date of your album from September 2005 all the way to June 2006, almost a full year. By that time, the single would have run out of steam (which it has) and good luck with the second single. Anyways again, her first single "Don't Let It Go To Your Head" was nice punk pop moreover on the pop side, but her second single "ThisIsMyLife" is a bit weak actually. But whatever, I'm still a fan of her Ramones-style accent when she sings and spits into the mic. Her new (kinda new now) album will (hopefully) drop (finally, fuckdammit) on June 20 (maybe) this year. Look out for her to hit your radios with some heavy airplay of her other single "Scar". Her songwriting skills are pretty good and yeah, she's close to being just another Avril Lavigne wannabe, but she's got an awesome powerful voice and she's a JoanJett rookie in-training, so I wouldn't put her out just yet. Watch for it, or if you want to, watch her video for "Don'tLetItGoToYourHead" here. Hazim. Out.

Travis Was In The Discount Bin Today..."Sob"

TRAVIS//12MEMORIES
Hey. Hazim here...again. Went out with three friends today, just lounging around. We were going to watch XMen3, but we were short of time. Anyways, at the store we were at, they had a discount bin for old CDs and usually they put crappy unpopular CDs on discount like MariahCarey's Glitter ("gag") album. But when I was rummaging through it, I found one of my old time favorite bands in the bin...Travis. Not a lot of people like Travis. I think Chris Martin can be a dick, so Travis suits me more. I't good soft rock fluff, and I like how cliche the lyrics are, but when I found their album 12 Memories in the bin, I almost threw a fit. I've been the longest Travis fan and to see them in that bin almost (ALMOST) made me cry. Yeah, I'm a sissy for likine Travis, but wtf? Why are THEy ranked next to Glitter for god's sake?!?! It's not fair!
Even though I already had a copy, I bought the CD to save them from an unappreciative music lover who only wanted cheap stuff, or worse, the CD being thrown away. "shiver". Some of you's gonna disagree with me and shout TRAVIS SUCKS! I'm still gonna like 'em and having them next to Garbage, ArtBrut, and MIA on my CD shelf makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I know. It's such a gay situation, but whatever. Travis in the discount bin? Not a good sign. If I see a DepecheMode album or TheVines in the bin, I'd be racking up heavy therapy bills.

Watch Snow Patrol's "ChasingCars"!

Hey. Hazim here...again. Yeah, I've been gone a couple of days. So sorry, I truly am...but whatever, I have a life. Haha. Anyways, here's an awesome awesome song. It's taken from their laatest album EyesOpen, it's Snow Patrol performing "ChasingCars". It's just a brilliant song and guess what? It's making a dent on the Billboard charts. They deserve the attention they're getting in the UK and the US. I've noticed it's easier for mainstream UK acts to break into the US market nowadays...but there's no sign of hope for RobbieWilliams. Anyways again, hope you enjoy the video, because I most definitely did. I've got the new album and it's just beautiful music, I'm serious. Would love to see them live and judging from videos of their live performances, they sound like they'd be pretty rockin on stage. It's on my wishlist-next to dibs on the new NellyFurtado album coming out in June. "Let's Waste Time...Chasing Cars..." Love the song loads, so go get the album please. I don't want them to fade out. Hazim. Out.

Music2SeeTuesday: YeahYeahYeahs-CheatedHearts

Hey. Hazim here...again. How's your week going? Monday blues and shit are temporarily out the window for now. How about a little heartbreak for your Tuesday? After Karen O's massively emotional ballad with her band on the single "Maps", YeahYeahYeahs return with "Maps 2006", at least that's what BLENDER magazine called it. I completely agree, so here's a link to YouTube. Hope it works. Past efforts of me to post links to YouTube fell flat, so I'm crossing my fingers for this one. Karen O is the ultimate rock chick. She's got the whole fashion plate thing going and when she screams and yells, she sounds authentic and teasing most of the time. She's such an icon to lots of people, but I'm hoping she doesn't do a "Gwennie" and leave her band for a solo effort. Or maybe that'd be better. It worked for indie princess JennyLewis. Might just do it for Karen O. Oh, and YeahYeahYeahs also have the skinniest drummer alive. Haha. Hey, it's true.Hazim. Out.

Kelis Was/Is Here

Hey.Hazim here...again. How crazy were YOU when the "Milkshake" song came out? Come one, admit it. You can go around acting all tough that you hated it, but the fact that Kelis goes "damn right, it's better than yours" made it stick in your head even more. Anyways, back with a new single called "Bossy", I'm pretty sure she's some more provocative stuff to say. The new album called Kelis Was Here (why Was?) will be released in JUly this year, but for now, the single's good enough. There's a lso another track in which the lovely miss Kelis teams up with Busta Rhymes called (ready for this?) "I Love My Bitch". Awesome title. Haha. No, I'm serious. Kelis has always loved talking about sex and stuff, so the whole r&b soul vibe builds around that. That, and her raspy voice, which is seriously hypnotic. Look out for her. Hazim. Out.

Nelly Furtado In HQ Magazine

Hey. Hazim here...again. Oh God! This blogger site is turning into the Nelly Furtado fansite! Hahaha. Sorry, I can't help but appreciate this girl. Here are pictures (I don't know how recent they are, just that they're hot) from HQ maagazine. She looks elegant slash hot. Perfect combo for someone like her. Whoa Nelly! Hazim. Out.

Watch Nelly Furtado's "Promiscous"!

Hey. Hazim here...again. Here's the video from YouTube (sometimes, it's really unreliable) of "Promisoucs" featuring some vocals by the awesome Timbaland, who also produces the track. The song is currently at number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 and it's climbing pretty fast. Justin Timberlake (screw him) is in the video. Click here to download it. Hazim. Out.

Get this video and more at MySpace.com

Watch And Download Nelly Furtado's "Maneater"!

Hey. Hazim here...again. Here's the music video for NellyFurtado's "Maneater". It's pretty awesome, kinda like a toned down version of Xtina's "Dirrty". To download the song, click here. Hazim. Out.

Listen To Nelly Furtado's "Undercover"!

Hey. Hazim here...again. Well, it's no secret I'm a fan of Nelly Furtado, so I keep sampling all this awesome new stuff from her and it just psyches me up for her third album release Loose. She's like a Canadian/Portugese version of Shakira. Anyways, Nelly Furtado is the first artist to release three different singles at the same time to promote an album. They are "Maneater", "Promiscous", and "No Hay Igual". All hot. All catchy hiphop/pop hybrids. "No Hay Igual" even qualifies as reggaeton. Anyways, on the CD single of "Maneater", there's a hot little track called "Undercover" that was apparently thrwon off the album's tracklisting. It's still good. Not unique in any way, but very catchy.

BritneySpears Wrotes A Poem!

"MyMy! What A Blustery Day!"
Hey. Hazim here...again. Thought I was done posting for the day on both my blogger sites, but I saw this on Popbytes (crdit to that site) and it's a poem or a song written by Sean Preston's mama herself. A little bit dark, but it's kinda showing that Britney's trying real hard for people to take her seriously. Hate her or love her, she's made her mark on her charts (an even bigger mark on the tabloids though) with some pretty great singles "Toxic","BabyOneMoreTime" and "I'mASlave4U", and some bad singles "MyPrerogative","Lucky", and "Everytime". Still, this shows improvement in lyrical power. The title is called "RemembranceOfWhoIAm". The voodoo bit in the lyrics made me cringe actually, to be honest. Hazim. Out.
REMEMBRANCE OF WHO I AM
No more chains
That you gave me

Enough of pain
Now I'm craving
Something sweet, so delight
How do you stand sleeping at night?

Silly patterns that we follow
You pull me in
I'm being swallowed
By the ones you think you love
They pull you down
You can't see up above

Manipulation is the key
They screw it in
Because you're naive

You come to me now
Why do you bother?
Remember the Bible, the sins of the Father
What you do
You pass down
No wonder why
I lost my crown

You don't see me now
You asl yourself why
My crown is back
And it's way too high
For you to be in my presence
Especially my son
You should bow down
I've only just begun

The guilt you fed me
Made me weak
The voodoo you did
I couldn't speak

You're awakening
The phone is ringing
Resurrection of my soul
I'm bringing

What will you say?
And what will you do?
She's not the same person that you're used to

You trick me once, twice, now it's three
Look, who's smiling now
Damn, it's good to be me!

KTTunstall'sExtravaganza. New Movie. NewRecord.

KT Tunstall:FirstToSing"BlackHorseAndTheCherryTree"OnJupiter
Hey. Hazim here...again. After AmericanIdol contestant Katharine McPhee did an OK rendition of KtTunstall's "BlackHorse And The Cherry Tree", the song and the album EyeToTheTelescope shot up a good number of spots on the charts. Love KTTunstall's voice, and loved the fact that it was a rumor that she toyed with lesbianism (is that even a word?). Makes her even more special...I think. Anyways, the awesomely awesome Scottish singer will make her film debut in the first film effort by London's Old Vic Theatre Company. The movie is called RubieRedChequer and it also stars Bob Hosinns and French star Josiane Balasko (who the hell are they?). Sounds like a European indie flick or something. I just know I won't be seeing it shown in cineams around here, so I might try and find a way to download it. KtTunstall will also be writing the theme song to the flick. Oh, and May 15th was the release date in some places for KtTunstall's acoustic record called Extravaganza. Trust me, KT Tunstall singing acoustic? That's gonna give you the shivers. Her voice is like an amateurish JanisJoplin-in-training, but with a bit of Chris Martin in her style. Good stuff. I'll expect "OtherSideOfTheWorld" to go up the charts in the US soon. Hazim. Out.

DashboardConfessional's Dusk And Summer

DashboardConfessional Pretend They've Just Won An Oscar
Hey. Hazim here...again. Underground bands who suddenly hit mainstream turf get booed by some old fans and that's what the lead singer wish he was singing in front of 50 people in a bar again, and not in front of 50,000 people in a stadium. Examples? Look at what it friggin did to Fall Out Boy and YeahYeahYeahs. When they start hitting Top40 radio charts, they're suddenly not hot and fresh and new and hip and cool and....catch my drift? Anyways, whether you're going to care or not, Dashboard Confessional followed the same way, blasting into the charts with their last albu A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar. Unlike a lot of emo or emo-ish bands, Dashboard Confessional slip pieces of pop bombast in their tracks. Some people roll their eyes when they see teenagers walking around saying "I like Dashboard Confessional and Fall Out Boy. Cuz they're underground, right? And that makes me cool." I'd do the same, except, technically speaking, I'm still a teenager, but I'll kick your ass if you place me in the same category as hormone-pulsating 13 year old girls going gaga over Teddy Geiger.
Okayy, this post is supposed to be about Dashboard Confessional. Anyways, their upcoming album is called Dusk&Summer. An album title, I might have mistaken for a Norah Jones album. Anyways, producer Daniel Lanois worked with them on this new CD. Two awesomely awesome albums (Joshua Tree by U2 and So by Peter Gabriel) are in his credit and under his heavy belt. Sounds good, I think. Album's set to be released June 27th, with the lead single "dDon't Wait" expected to generate the hype. Hey, mainstream or not. If they're good, they're good. Hazim. Out.

Music2SeeThursday:Goldfrapp-FlyMeAway

Hey. Hazim here...again. Every Tuesday and Thursday, I'll post a link to a music video I've deemed awesome. Why? Because those two days start with the letter "T" and it doesn't sound as nice if I put "Music2SeeWednesday". Monday, maybe...but who the hell cares? Today's video is actually an awesome performance by Goldfrapp of their awesome song "Fly Me Away" from their awesome album Supernature. The whole album is a heavy breathing soundtrack for nymphos. There's the sexual subject matters in the songs, but the way Alison Goldfrapp rides the beats is amazing. Check it out. Have a towel ready. Goldfrapp makes me sweat gallons. You probably didn't need to know that. Hazim. Out.

Shakira:OralFixationTour

Hey. Hazim here...again. Now, I love me my Shakira. Loved her Spanish album, Fijacion Oral Volume 1, and although the follow-up, Volume 2, wasn't as happening, it was still awesome. Her latest single "Hips Don't Lie" featuring (ex?)Fugee member Wyclef Jean is currently number one on the pop charts and it's kinda easy to see why. As BLENDER magazine put it, Beauty, Brains, and Bilingualism. All of this equals HOT. Anyways, Shakira will be embarking on a world tour that spans almost her entire discogrophy, which will include some of her awesome early Spanish work. Ofcourse, she'll most likely focus on her last two albums containing the strong singles "Hips Don't Lie", "Don't Bother", and "La Tortura". She starts out with three countries, according to her tourschedule, Spain, the US, and Canada. I am down on my knees hoping she comes by Singapore or Malaysia. I heard she's great live from other concertgoers and I believe them based on my multiple viewings of Shakira:Live And Off The Record DVD. Her last tour, Tour Of The Mongoose, was masively successful, and I was happy for it except for one thing-Asian stops were too few. This time, I hope she realizes she's got a huge fanbase here. Come on down Shakira! Hazim. Out.

Music2SeeTuesday: Flyleaf-I'mSoSick

Hey. Hazim here...again. Fuckdammit. Why doesn't my YouTube link work? I was going to put up a video of Flyleaf, but the link didn't work. That sucked. So, I found another link to another site and helpmegod, this link might work. It's Flyleaf's "I'm So Sick", not to be confused with NeYo's "So Sick". Not because it's rock and NeYo's pop, but because it's a hell of a lot better. Check it out. Hazim. Out.

Breakouts:TheUpperRoom

TheUpperRoom:RiddledWithHoles
Hey. Hazim here...again. Lounging around myspace, I got the sense everybody else who was online at the music forums had cooler taste in music and knew it. "laughs". Anyways, somebody there suggested I go check out this band called The Upper Room. Well, they're not new and they're not a hard rock band. Just really nice melodious pop from a UK band. It's really gorgeous band and I love love love the song "Kill Kill Kill'. Their new single "Black And White" was released May 8th and well, it's not really mianstream fluff, so don't watch the charts for it. To listen to some of their songs, check out their myspace site here. Really gorgeous stuff. It's not groundbreaking, but it's pretty. You can tell they're British from lead singer Alex Miller's accent. It's dripping with English tea and London bridges. You can actually download their sutff off their myspace, I think. The band's got four members and well, like I said, it's not gonna make critics swivel their heads 360 degrees, but while I'm waiting for Keane and Travis to release new stuff, The Upper Room have my ears out for them. Check them out, I insist. Hazim. Out.

Christina Milian's So Amazin

"Uh, Can You Like, Leave Me Alone? Trynna Do My Make-Up Here"
Hey. Hazim here...again. Mainstream Top 40 is dissed by indie kids and booed by metalheads, but once in a while a really crafty well-thought out pop song creeps into their heads and doesn't want to leave. For example, last year, Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" made her status go way up past stratosphere level. So what, if it's catchy and sung by a girl, it can't be okay to like it? Well, Christina Milian's got a knack for writing really catchy pop-r&b hybrids. Remember "Dip It Low"? I remember the video more actually, the one where she's slinking around half-naked and covered in black paint. "pant" "adjust myself" Anyways "cough", her new single is climbing fast on Billboard hitting the top 30 on Billboard this week. It's called "Say I" and wait for it-it's really good. A decent pop hip hop soul track featuring one of my fave rappers-Young Jeezy (who was recently linked to a shooting by the way). The album is called So Amazin, and critics have slammed, slashed, and pounded on her musical work since her first album. I've no doubt they'll do the same fucking thing for this one, but I don't think Christina will care when she's got Andre 3000, Usher, and horny 7th graders ogling after her. The album will be released May 16th and the second single has been confirmed to be "Gonna Tell Eveerybody". Her recent break-up with Nick Cannon (oh, fuck him. how could afford to mess up with someone hot like her?) inspired "Who's Gonna Ride" when she goes "I Ain't One To Cuss, But Fuck You". Haha. Anyways, Christina Milian's only 24. Still young, hot as hell, but she's had 15 years already in the showbiz industry so good luck fooling her. Check her out on the cover of this month's BLENDER magazine and watch out for her in Pulse, a new pantswetter of a movie. Hazim. Out.

Chris Daughtry Offered To Sing For Fuel

"I Am Cliche And A Wannabe. Vote For Me"
Hey. Hazim here...again. After being booted out of American Idol and out of the top three, wannabe rocker Chris Daughtry has been offered to be the lead singer of Fuel hours after being eliminated. Apparently, the lead, Brett Scallions, quit, and the band liked Chris. I'll keep this short, even though this is kinda big news. Chris should take the offer, but for all his wannabe cliche rocker moves (sunglasses, yelling like he's from Slipknot in a Creed song, leather, rocker facial expressions), he's got a great voice for record. And although the CD will be dead in 10 yrs, it's still burning brightly now, so Chris Daughtry fronting Fuel might make the CD sales of the band go up, up, and more up. Hazim. Out.

Evanescence And The Open Door

Evanescence's Amy Lee Really Likes To Hear Her Neighbor's Argue
Hey. Hazim here...again. Drama is usually music's middle name when it comes to legal issues and lawsuits and songwriting royalties and all that shit. Anyways, after main producer and co-songwriter Ben Moody (love the last name) quit and left the band abruptly while they were on tour, lead singer goth chick Amy Lee was only too happy to continue. So Fallen sold a lot of copies in this new millenium where selling one original copy is a big deal, and I was one of the millions who went out and bought it after hearing "Bring Me To Life". Well, Ben Moody's replacement, Terry Balsamo, was reushed to the hospital after suffering a stroke caused by a torn neck artery( this is the part where I grimace). Well, for the new material, Amy Lee claims she's gotten to be more creative and in control, saying "With Ben, it was always 'No, that's not commercial enough". On the new album, Evanescence even cover Mozart's "Lacrimosa" and some opera thrown in. She also says the new record is sexier and 10 times better than the first. Sounds good to me. I know it's a bit cheesy goth wannabe rock, but like a lot of people say=who's gonna resist Linkin Park with a chick? The new CD will be out October 3rd, but I expect the date will be pushed back. It's too early to confirm it. Here's to hoping Amy Lee can pull off a Tori Amos/Fiona Apple moment like "My Immortal". Hazim. Out.

ChartBeat: Rihanna Rockets To Number One

Rihanna Causes A Fuss At Ikea's 50% Off Sale
Hey. Hazim here...again. Now, I'm not one of those people who hate mainstream hit singles and I'm not the other kind either. I'm just neutral and I like that. Anyways, due to seriously clever marketing by Def Jam who made the song "SOS" only available for digital downloads at retailers when the album hit stores, Rihana has blasted up 33 spots to knock Daniel Powter off the number one spot on Billboard's Hot 100. I'm wondering if this girl is really 17? Anyways, "SOS" samples quite a few things like Tainted Cell, so some haters of mainstream stuff might secretly download it into their playlists. I know DJs love the track. In other chart news, Nick Lachey somehow managed to get his song "What's Left Of Me" to leap 27 spots to land at number 6. God, what is happening to the charts?
Anyways, Godsmack debuted high at number one with their new album. Ah, now I'm bored talking about charts. I think someone tampered with the facts. Rihanna canNOT be seventeen. She's so hot though! When she came out, I thought she'd be a one hit wonder, but I'll admit now, Jay Z (he sgined her up for seven albums or something like that) knows a star when he sees one.Anyways, her new album A Girl Like Me is out now, so go check it out if you feel like it.

Download Nelly Furtado's "Promiscous" Video!

Nelly Furtado Never Really Got The Idea Of Hide N Seek
Hey. Hazim here...again. I have been waiting almost forever for this, and now it's here. I'm a big fan of Nelly Furtado. I think the way she just blends her cultural background and twists it into a modern sound is way cool. Her second album wasn't that happening, but the new tracks "No Hay Igual" and "Promiscous" are HOT SHIT. The video features Justin Timberlake and the track is produced by uber cool producer Timbaland who did Missy Elliott's awesome "Get Ur Freak On". Anyways, if you feel like hearing Nelly Furtado's "No Hay Igual", check out her myspace page. Trust me, that track is hot. But "Promiscous" is hotter. There was supposed to be a track called "All Good Things Must Pass" featuring Chris Martin (sissy boy) of Coldplay, but apparently it's been taken off the track listing for Loose, the new album dropping in June. Buy the CD, download the songs (legally, duh), vote for her on TRL, or whatever. Just make sure you support her. She's one of the finer millenium age singers out there. If you want to download the video, you can click here. Hazim. Out.
