DashboardConfessional's Dusk And Summer

DashboardConfessional Pretend They've Just Won An Oscar
Hey. Hazim here...again. Underground bands who suddenly hit mainstream turf get booed by some old fans and that's what the lead singer wish he was singing in front of 50 people in a bar again, and not in front of 50,000 people in a stadium. Examples? Look at what it friggin did to Fall Out Boy and YeahYeahYeahs. When they start hitting Top40 radio charts, they're suddenly not hot and fresh and new and hip and cool and....catch my drift? Anyways, whether you're going to care or not, Dashboard Confessional followed the same way, blasting into the charts with their last albu A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar. Unlike a lot of emo or emo-ish bands, Dashboard Confessional slip pieces of pop bombast in their tracks. Some people roll their eyes when they see teenagers walking around saying "I like Dashboard Confessional and Fall Out Boy. Cuz they're underground, right? And that makes me cool." I'd do the same, except, technically speaking, I'm still a teenager, but I'll kick your ass if you place me in the same category as hormone-pulsating 13 year old girls going gaga over Teddy Geiger.
Okayy, this post is supposed to be about Dashboard Confessional. Anyways, their upcoming album is called Dusk&Summer. An album title, I might have mistaken for a Norah Jones album. Anyways, producer Daniel Lanois worked with them on this new CD. Two awesomely awesome albums (Joshua Tree by U2 and So by Peter Gabriel) are in his credit and under his heavy belt. Sounds good, I think. Album's set to be released June 27th, with the lead single "dDon't Wait" expected to generate the hype. Hey, mainstream or not. If they're good, they're good. Hazim. Out.
