Hey. It's Hazim here. Here to introduce myself to anyone visiting this blog. I'm in Malaysia, used to live in the states though. I'm a big fan of track and field (marion jones, my idol even though she's a female athlete). I'm a huge music freak. I'm mostly a pop person ( kelly clarkson, sugababes, rachael yamagata0, but i dig stoner rock (queens of the stone age), trip hop (dido, portishead), hip hop and r&b (mary j blige, kanye west, the game), and other types (franz ferdinand, modest mouse, scissor sisters, garbage, etc. )
I think (if i'm being "deep") music's got the power to stop people from fighting. For example, I mean an israeli man could be a fan of dido and another palestenian is too. See, the thing is, people need to find common ground before they climb the mountain (man! that was deep!). The greatest songwriters like bob dylan know what they want to say without overdoing the singing.
I collect albums (don't ask me why. everyone's busy downloading n tryin to look cool with their ipods), so here's a lyric from a Shakira song.
It's alright, it's alright.
Cos the system never fails,
The good guys are in power and the bad guys are in jail,
I's alright, it's alright,
Just as long as we can vote,
We live in a democracy and that's what we promote,
Isn't it? Isn't it?
The lyrics are very direct. No abstract hidden meanings. I just think if world leaders didn't just hear music, but listened to it, peace wouldn't be such a corny impossible hole to fill. But hey, i'm still young. I've got like a lot of years to get drunk, crash my first car, smoke my first weed, and kill time like a serial killer. Note to self and anyone who just read that: IT"S A JOKE.
Damn! I'm getting kinda preachy. Hey, did anyone catch Golden Globes? I liked that Sandra Oh won. Being a good actor/actress doesn't mean you can cry the best. I like Grey's Anatomy, the show, a lot. Light-hearted but it deals with heavy issues. Better than E.R. E.R can get a bit dreary and bleak sometimes.
I don't know if anyone actually read this, cos this is my first blog posting. There'll be more to come!
Lyric of the day is from Rilo Kiley. very famous. Indie lovers out there might know.
"Talking leads to touching and touching leads to sex. And then there's no mystery left."
Alright. That's enuff 4 now. I'll get back to posting more soon!
